When Abdul Rahman Badsha first began to sell artisanal textiles in the 1900s, Koskii journey began as he moved from shanty to shanty and bazaar to bazaar. In 1914, he established his first business, Badsha Stores, in Madikeri, Coorg. His sons and grandsons have carried on the custom over the years.
Their company's founder and CEO, Umar Akhtar, is the great-grandson of Abdul Rahman Badsha. Umar started Mina Bazaar in an unconventional way; it was later renamed Koskii. Early in his adolescence, Umar worked full-time at his father's store in Kolar while also finishing his education.
